Hook – Size 14 wet
Thread – Brown
Tail – Amber Antron Yarn
Body – Amber Dubbing
Body Envelope- Amber Antron Yarn
Wing – Deer Hair
Thorax – Brown Dubbing

| Step 1 - Wind a base of thread and tie in the amber antron yarn at the rear of the fly surrounding the hook shank. It may need brushing with a comb or velcro or similar to seperate the fibres. | ![]() |
| Step 2 - Dub a body preferably with a synthetic dubbing which has a bit of shine to it. Finish the dubbing about 2/3rd's the way along the hook shank. | ![]() |
| Step 3 - Seperate the antron yarn at the rear of the fly into two pieces top and bottom. Pull the top section of yarn over the dubbed body and tie it in at the front of the body. Only use two wraps of thread at most and do not pull the wraps down tightly yet. | ![]() |
|
Step 4 - The antron yarn that remains at the rear of the fly should now be treated the same way. This time though it needs to be pulled underneath the body on both sides of the hook and tied in at the front so it veils the underside of the fly. |

| Step 5 - The antron yarn should now veil the whole dubbed body of the fly. It should look like a balloon surrounding the body of the fly. If the body envelope is pulled up too hard against the body put your bodkin under the fibres and gently pull them back out form under the thread wraps. It should look like a small balloon with the body faintly showing through. | ![]() |
| Step 6 - Tie off everything tightly and trim away all the excess. On top of the fly just behind the tie off point clip a few fibres from the body envelope and pull them back to the position they were originally in to form a trailing shuck. | ![]() |
| Step 7 - Clip a small bunch of deer hair and lay it down over the top of the body envelope. The tips of the deer hair should be level with the back of the envelope and then tied in. All the deer hair should stay at the top half of the fly so don't let it spin on the hook. Trim off the excess deer hair. | ![]() |
| Step 8 - Dub a small thorax of brown dubbing covering the trimmed ends of deer hair and tie off. Whip finish and varnish and the fly is all done. | ![]() |
